How to Take care of your Jewellery

In Iceland it is common for silver to tarnish or get black in the Icelandic warm water, because of the sulfur that is in the warm water.
Here are some points we recommend to keep your jewellery look new forever.

1. Keep your jewellery out of water, or steam. That means do not keep your jewellery in your bathroom.

2. Clean your jewellery after wearing it, with a cloth. Moister and perfume could change the colour of your jewellery. Just wipe the jewellery and store it in a dark place. Such as a jewellery box.

3. If the jewellery is goldplated, the goldplating will alway come off in the end. Here we can clean the jewellery and give the jewellery a new life of being a silver jewellery. Or get the item goldplated, Lilja Björk Jewellery does not offer goldplating yet. 

4. If you have a 925 silver jewellery, boil 1 cup of water and let it cool, but we recommend the water to be still warm. Get an old toothbrush and half a teaspoon of dishwashing soap. Let the jewellery sit in the water  first for 15 min. If you have  chemical-based solutions or enzymatic cleaners (drain cleaner), then add just a half a teaspoon to the mix. Then take the brush and clean the jewellery. After this the silver jewellery should be clean.
